The Lacuna (Net)works

The Lacuna Works is a company that believes in creativity and innovation in film and all its related media. We want to encourage it, foster it, and where possible give it somewhere to grow. We keep looking at new ways to do this, and a while ago we considered buying a building and opening it up as a creative space for people to meet and develop their projects. For a number of reasons that never happened, but that has not stopped us from looking for new creative outlets.
Then, in early 2008, Graham Guy and Angela Dee decided to hold The Lacuna Works' first networking event. This was done at relatively short notice and publicised largely by word of mouth, and yet a significant numper of people turned up. Producers, actors, directors, writers... all were represented there, and without any fuss connections were formed and projects were started. To the best of our knowledge even after all this time many of those connections and alliances are still going strong.
Following on from the success of the first meeting we held another about a month later, and this was just as well-attended as the first. Staying clear of the party style venues and preferring the quieter surroundings of a pub in Westminster was initially down to our own preference, but it has met with regular positive feedback and so we are keeping to that format. We see the meetings as a chance for people to talk and discuss their projects, and so the quieter location and smaller attendance of our format are intended to help nurture that.
The Lacuna (Net)works has now become a semi-regular event. We hold a meeting every month or thereabouts (with occasional gaps when time does not permit) so please come along and join us. The meetings are mostly held in the Red Lion, Westminster, although we are holding our first one in Cannes in 2010 during the film festival, and we are considering starting one in Brighton.
